Fisheries Outreach Manager

US or Canadian East Coast,
Preferably Halifax, Nova Scotia, or Naples, Florida

 

Introduction

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), Americas region, seeks a Fisheries Outreach Manager to work primarily with fisheries located in eastern Canada, the US Atlantic and Gulf states, and the Caribbean. MSC is the world's leading marine eco-labelling and certification program for wild fisheries. The organization aims to reverse the decline in global fish stocks, to deliver quantifiable improvements in marine conservation and help secure the livelihoods of those involved in the global fishing industry.


Responsibilities

Provide outreach, support and customer service to the fishery sector to promote MSC's fishery assessment and certification program and the MSC brand. Work with fishermen, fisheries and supply chain stakeholders, government representatives and partners in the NGO community. Conduct research and analysis, presentations, and coordinate with MSC commercial program to move products from certified fisheries into the market.


Qualifications

Post-graduate degree or equivalent in fisheries, marine conservation biology, natural resources or environmental management. Commitment to contribute to a sustainable future in the world's oceans. See www.msc.org for full job description.


Compensation

Salary: US $55,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience
