Responsibilities

The Pew Charitable Trusts seeks an associate for its Marine Science Initiative. The Marine Science Initiative is focused on supporting policy-relevant research on marine issues and we work to deliver the results of that research to decision-makers and stakeholders in an effective and timely way. The associate has significant responsibility for producing and distributing research summaries of scientific results from the initiative, maintaining appropriate stakeholder distribution lists and web content and assisting in other outreach activities such as arranging briefings for decision-makers. This position is a limited term position with an end date of June 30, 2012, and the possibility of being extended or renewed.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have at least one to three years of relevant professional experience in the environmental and public policy arena. A Bachelor's degree is required, an advanced degree is preferred. The position also requires excellent oral and written communication skills, including as east with communicating concepts in a clear, effective manner for a general audience; solid analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize large amount of information and focus quickly on the essence of an issue; and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external parties.
